HEALTHCARE SUPPORT PROGRAM
Walking Shield has provided over $5,040,000 in healthcare programs to tribes all across the nation. Similar to Walking Shield’s Infrastructure Program, the Healthcare Support Program utilizes military branches Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) requirement to assign military medical doctors, dentists, and nurses and equipment to Indian reservations needing healthcare assistance. Army, Air Force and National Guard medical personnel are deployed annually to Indian reservations to enhance health care delivery at no costs to American Indian patients.
Military physicians, dentists, and nurses, have provided more than 150,000 American Indians with healthcare such as:

- X-rays
- Health Education
- Physical Therapy
- Podiatry
- Pharmacy
- Nutritional Services
- Mental Health Services
- Medical Recordkeeping
- Oral Health Education
- Tooth Extractions
- Bonding
- Teeth Cleanings
- Tooth Fillings
Some of the following Indian tribes have benefited from Walking Shield’s Healthcare Support Program: Hoopa, Leech Lake, Three Affiliated Tribes, Turtle Mountain, White Earth, Northern Cheyenne, Crow, Rosebud, Pine Ridge, Spirit Lake, Kickapoo, Sac and Fox of Kansas, Prairie Band of Potawatomi, Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska, Fort Peck, Fort Belknap, Rocky Boy Chippewa Cree, Red Cliff, Crow Creek Sioux, Blackfeet Nation, Santa Ynez, Rincon, and Round Valley.
