Donating Stocks and Bonds

To give a donation of stocks and bonds to Walking Shield, Inc., we have been setup with Union Bank Investment Services.
The best stocks to donate are those that have increased greatly in value, particularly those producing a low yield. Even if it is stock you wish to keep in your portfolio, by giving us the stock and using cash to buy the same stock through your broker, you will have received the same income tax deduction but will have a new, higher basis in the stock.

Volunteering

Walking Shield has numerous volunteer opportunities. For more information please fill out our Volunteer Form

In-kind Donations

Throughout the year, Walking Shield also gathers new, in-kind donations for distribution including:  hygiene products, clothing, blankets, toys, baby supplies, computers and educational items. You can help by organizing a supply drive at your school, place of employment, where you worship, or in your neighborhood. For the summer months, Walking Shield’s humanitarian aid efforts focus on the approaching school year. Items such as backpacks and school supplies are particularly welcome. During the fall and winter, Walking Shield gathers blankets, warm clothes, and toys for distribution.

Developing Partnerships

In addition to individual and community group support, much of Walking Shield’s long term funding is derived from private corporations, foundations and government agencies. Many of our corporate sponsors encourage their employees to give to Walking Shield and often match these initial donations. Walking Shield is always looking for opportunities to develop new grant partnerships. If you have a connection to a possible funding source through a friend or family member introduce them to our staff.

Planned Giving

Walking Shield has a variety of planned giving options. See our Brochure here.
